There are free to listen to (at time of airing) sessions with leading autorities in thier fields, currently neuroplasticity (neuro science of how emotions / behaviours and brain works) and Mindfulness is due soon - a topic we have already covered in Topic of Month.
A 'Links page; has been added to:
Health and Social Care Bill for England - this should be of interest to you if:you receive NHS careyou are interested in 'any willing provider'
Follow another research session via Athens I have added a paper on Hypnotherapy and smoking. Despite all the claims I see and hear about how good, or even great therapists are the evidence is not good. A move to increase professional practice and at the least audit practise to evidence your outcomes is needed. Information on levels / hierarchy of evidence is available on the EBP page.
My query is - is the evidence poor because people don't know how to audit or know which validated and relaible tools to use? This is only a matter of training - 2 days. Interested? Email me - with sufficient interest it can be arranged.
The Topic of the Month is now updated for June and July.
The topic is Eye Movement Therapies - EMDR, IEMT and EMI. This topic is linked into the new (UK) NICE Guidelines on PTSD.
What is CPD?
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) or Continuing Professional Education (CPE) is the means by which professionals maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge and skills and develop the personal qualities required in their professional lives.
CPD is defined as a commitment to structured skills enhancement and personal or professional competence.
CPD can also be defined as the conscious updating of professional knowledge and the improvement of professional competence throughout a person's working life. It is a commitment to being professional, keeping up to date and continuously seeking to improve.
CPD should be engaging, informative and progressive, embracing 'best practice' and easily digestible knowledge. It should neither be excessively demanding nor uninteresting. It should stimulate a desire to learn more about your profession
